SSC is conducted to fill vacant positions in various ministries, departments and directorates, the offices of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and its Accountant General offices, Election Commission and Central Vigilance Commission. Undoubtedly, Staff Selection Commission is the biggest recruiting agency in the country with 9 Regional Offices nationwide, located at Bangalore, Chennai, Allahabad, Guwahati, New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai and there are also sub-regional offices located at Raipur and Chandigarh. The head office of the commission is situated in New Delhi. Staff Selection Commission is one of the key central examination authorities in India conducting examinations for recruitment under the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) and Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHLE).
